Today, I want to share how I discovered Pilates, how it changed my life, and how I completely fell in love with it.
It all started in 2018, about 7.5 years ago.
It was the first year of my Master’s degree (oops… I just exposed my age).
I felt lost.
I wasn’t sure where life was heading or what I wanted to do after university. Honestly, I wasn’t in a great place—physically or mentally.
I’ve never been the sporty type. In fact, growing up, people always told me I wasn’t good at sports or fitness.
But deep down, I knew my body needed to move. I wanted to become healthier, both physically and mentally.
One of my friends suggested I try Pilates.
I still remember my very first class at One Hot Yoga in South Yarra. I signed up for their 21-day unlimited Reformer and Mat Pilates intro offer for $75.
It genuinely changed my life.
Looking back now, I had no idea that one class would shape the next seven years of my life.
For the first time, I found a form of exercise that I actually looked forward to.
I wasn’t forcing myself to work out anymore.
I simply enjoyed moving.
But the biggest change wasn’t just physical.
Pilates gave me something I didn’t even realise I needed—peace.
For that one hour, nothing else mattered.
Not assignments. Not job interviews. Not the people who had hurt me. Not the endless noise from the outside world.
It was just me, my breath, and the quiet feeling of becoming a better version of myself, one class at a time.
Of course, seeing the physical changes was incredibly rewarding too.
Stronger abs. More defined glutes. Those obliques every Pilates girl knows about.
But what stayed with me wasn’t just how my body changed.
It was the confidence that came from showing up for myself, week after week, and seeing what consistency could do.
Looking back now, Pilates gave me so much more than strength or flexibility.
It gave me confidence.
It gave me peace.
And somehow, years later, it even inspired me to build my own brand.
Maybe that’s why creating Pilates socks feels so meaningful to me.
