Starting is brave, but continuing requires persistence and endless learning.
To be honest, when I first started, I didn’t think too much about how hard this would be or the challenges I’d face. All I knew was that I wanted to take a chance on a childhood dream and step out of my comfort zone.
Over the past six months, I’ve realised that building a brand isn’t just about developing a quality product. When it’s your business, you are everything: owner, finance manager, logistics, marketing manager, packaging coordinator, website admin... and lately, a content creator.
Here is what “wearing all the hats” actually looks like lately:
Designing: This spans across everything. From logos (primary, secondary, favicon) to the actual socks (colours and materials), packaging, and social tiles.
Photography: To be completely transparent, I’m not great at taking photos and I don’t have the budget for a professional. So, it’s just me, an iPhone, and a tripod from Kmart—trying different angles, lighting, and backgrounds.
Content Creating: Honestly, this part is the hardest. The algorithm drives me crazy, and running ads feels like pouring money into the sea. You spend half a day editing a Reel, hoping someone will like it. One post gets 400 views, the next gets less than 100. It’s a constant guessing game.
If you’re reading this and have any tips for a new founder trying to navigate social media, I’d honestly love to hear them in the comments!
Feels like this is getting too long... so I’ll share more another day.
P.S. Slide to see our latest logos. I initially went with the black background, but the white feels a bit more cheerful, so that’s what we’re using for now. Which one do you prefer?
